Mother's Day Decor

I really do decorate for most every holiday!! Mother's Day is no exception!! Yesterday I put out my "Mother's Day decor" (and after I blogged about shut the front door friday I realized I should've done this post - SO two posts in one day!!). The decor is very minimal and can almost be every day decor....

I got this idea from "A Diamond in the Stuff" http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2011/04/framed-hop.html a few years ago....I adapted it to Mother's Day

 I brought my vintage chip clip out (that I got while flea-ing with one of my besties when she still lived here) to which I added my babies "1 year" pics (how time FLIES - we are on 13 and almost 8 - wah!!) a few pics of the kids and I and some art and a card....I am linking up WITH the original inspiration for her linky party - check it out here http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2013/05/time-to-shine-party-no-115.html

Not a few hours after I had my decor up I got a flower delivery....form my kids - SO sweet!!

And I am blessed beyond measure to have a friend that I have been thru thick and thin with...her life, my life....and still here we are 7 years later!! She graced me with this gorg Brighton bracelet she saw while on VACAY (is that selfless or what?!?!? She's on vacay and see's something that screams my name). Thank you for remembering me my peeps!! When you are a single mom, it's  lil different kind of holiday....so it's awesome to know I have friends and loved ones that remember me and make me feel special - love ya all!!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all the momma's out there....don't forget to wish the mom, friend or sister in your life a HAPPY day!! Sunday I am taking my momma flower shopping like we do every year! I'm looking forward to it mom!!

SHUT the Front Door FRIDAY AMERICANA Flag Wreath

WIth each month (unless it's a carry over like May-July will be) I change out my front door wreath to coordinate with a season or theme! THIS is today's SHUT the FRONT DOOR Friday wreath.....

I was inspired by this image from Pinterest....

So I called up my girly and we got our craft on....can you guess what we used? We needed a round fatty flat surface....

IF you guessed a pool noodle you are CORRECT!!!!

Once you duct tape the pool noodle end to end you start wrapping with your yarn.....The kitty was enjoying the yarn pile....having your pet help is optional! LOL

Howdy girls! LOTS of pics this week!! I think one for EVERY day! For example - this outfit is FAR form fancy (I'm not even wearing make-up or jewelry) BUT it got several compliments while I was out and about running errands...and it was SO simple - 3 pieces (denim jacket - a classic, dress and a pair of boots)

 SUNDAY Cinco de Mayo

(so of course I had to dress accordingly!! LOL - does anyone else do that OR am I the only dork?!?!)

Speaking of shoes - they are a FAB accessory....but in the interest of keepin it real chicas, I have the sweatiest feet known to man SO rawkin cool shoes is very limited....I am so jealous of the non sweaty feet people who can wear fab shoes! I have a pair of Coach wedges that I never wear because I don't want to "ruin" them with my sweaty feet :( I SO want botox in my feet - LOL! I know all that was probably TMI but just keepin it real....real gross! LOL!

MONDAY

 I was sanding and painting early in the day so I popped on my headscarf and got to work....

BUT later in the day I was at my girls conference track meet so I wore this (ps this pic is in front of one of my favey probably haunted houses)

Hat - Target NEW via the thrift (at the end of last season - actually I bought it in October - so I got a GREAT deal but couldn't wear until this year - that's the secret to putting it all together on the cheap - buy "classic" stuff off season)

Cinco de Mayo

I will preface by saying I'm not mexican BUT I LOVE mexican food, spirit, warmth and sense of community and family! I've never officially celebrated cinco de mayo and every year I'm sad when it comes to pass and I didn't plan ahead! This year I wasn't letting it creep up on me - I had my menu planned, my cocktail of choice and put out my vintage cinco de mayo tea towel I found while thrifting (Isn't it ADORBS)

 Years ago I found this image somewhere on line (if it's yours please tell me soI can credit you) and saved it so I could imitate it...clearly it passed me by this year (high hopes for next year!!)

For my cocktail of choice I got my red and green azucar (sugar)

Used a lime wedge to moisten the glass and dipped in the colored sugars....

I made beer-rita's BUT I subbed citrus vodka for tequila...

Steak tacos, pico de gallo and my beer-rita!

My lil guy was eating his taco...set it down and realized it was like the bat signal from batman!! I don't think he could've done that IF he tried!!

Wave your magic WAND

The other day I was thinkin "I used to be so crafty....what happened to me?!?!" I think sometimes we lose our mojo...Tuesday I found it!! I had made the wand on the far right several weeks ago...BUT I changed out the think skewer for an actual stick...

I used the skewer another way...I topped it with a large pearl....

By just sticking the skewer thru the hole...

OK, back to the first wand I did...I ruffled the crepe paper around an old ribbon spool, but the back of the spool was exposed...I could've covered it with a paper circle BUT instead I decided to use pearls (MY FAVE medium) and glued then to the back...

Here you can see the works in progress (the one on the right is the big flower like wand)

On the pearl topped skewer I KNEW I wanted a penant of some kind - it only seemed fitting to use the words from Frankie's song(esp since I wrote them out on my chalk globe also)....

To attach the penant to the skewer I glued the inside of the paper and held it in place with clothespins...

And TA-DA....Here they are.....

The EVOLUTION of an outfit

Hi girls! Today I am posting the pice BEFORE the pics for WIWW...What I like to call the evolution of an outfit...SEE if you notice the subtle changes...
(please excuse the towel...I had to get the pics in before my photog left for school!!)

Photo 4: No belt and BINGO the new kick ass shoes....BUT something still isn't quite right - the drapey jacket is making me look squatty....and the turquoise just isn't popping....

*I didn't originally think the copper shoe would work since the shirt is SO OBVIOUSLY gold BUT with the addition of the belt and dark necklace and bracelets (which I had on all day but not when I took the pic - LOL) it all tied together and wasn't matchy matchy which is more my style! I LOVE to coordinate but not "match" - ya know what I mean?!?!

ps - the checker at the grocery store told me "you're very sparkly today" (I live in a small town of probably less than 1000 - lol!!)
