FOODIE FRIDAY...ANGELIC ORGANICS CROP SHARE

Angelic Organics is a local farm here in Illinois that has a "crop share" program. Through this program they have "host homes" throughout Illinois that agree to house your weekly box of produce for pick up SO even IF you don't live close to the farm you can STILL have farm fresh produce. Below you will see pictures from the past month of my cropshare.

I spent several hours one Sunday morning washing all the lettuce (there are various varieties that I have received over the weeks)

Here is a salad I took to work one day made entirely from my crop share (I made my own "italian" style dressing)

It's a LOT of produce for a small family and I don't always get to the stuff right away....which was the case with the second batch of carrots and my first batch of celery....SO what's a girl to do?!?!?!

Wash them, chop them and sautee them....my son HATES onions (I LOVE the flavoring so a good compromise is to cook the onion WHOLE and then remove it)

I used the above pictured veggies for Chicken Pot Pie

Two weeks in a row we got lil baby watermelons....did YOU know a watermelon is a vegetable NOT a fruit?!?!?

Last weeks crop share....we LOVE to eat sliced cucumbers in fresh squeezed lime juice - a perfectly fresh compliment to summer

Dinner grilled earlier this week (IN rain, thunder and LIGHTENING) the tomato is from my deck garden and the corn from the crop share....

This is a BRILLIANT IDEA and secretly I've always wanted to sell at a farmers market (on a very small herb and flowers kinds scale). I'd LOVE to see "The Hundred Foot Journey" movie...seems like a foodies dream...have YOU seen it?

Somebody once said the older you get the faster time goes by... I NEVER believed it until now....seems like the summer flew by (I KNOW in theory it's not OVER but my kids go back to school in 2 weeks). (side note: I did change my wedges to the neutral pair in the first photo AFTER I saw these pics - the leopard was too dark for the neutral everything else I had going on)

I'm sportin a new tat....This was the day it was done....I wouldn't normally get such a large piece on the inside of my wrist HOWEVER it was a cover up so I had parameters to work within....it's been a few days and I'm LOVING it though!!

MONDAY

(I've wanted a kimono all summer and I FINALLY happened upon the perfect one while Back-to-School clothes shopping with the kids)

This kimono is the PERFECT length for someone on the more petite short side (the front is a flattering short style that graduates into a longer length in the back which makes it perfect for leggings). I can see this with a chambray shirt underneath for a cooler fall day

TUESDAY

(it NEVER fails...every time it's picture time the pup wants in on the photo's...he always grabs his leash and runs away or plops down right in front of me)

What I am wearing:

Earrings - Maurices
Sweater - SO SO old - from Montgomery Ward (back in the day - I bought this when I was a junior in high school)
Leggings - Walmart
Wedges - Target

Found THIS glorious "statement" necklace at Wal-Mart a few weeks ago....very J.Crew like....both Walmart and Target have taken J.Crew's style and made it more affordable...a FUN way to try the "statement" necklace trend without breaking the bank

THIS is what I will be wearing today....I envisioned THIS necklace right away with graphic Black & White stripes

MANIC MONDAY New Tattoo

Have you ever had one of those moments in life that you make a less than stellar decision??!?! I'm SURE WE ALL HAVE....some are temporary moments of insanity some have an everlasting affect....Once upon a time I thought I was madly in love with this person and we got matching tattoos...it was small-ish....exactly what I wanted....until the relationship was no more....I am not going into details BUT suffice it to say it's long over and a cover-up has been years in the making....

I did my research....Checked out pinterest OF COURSE and came up with these....

However, the letters were too close to do much with (and my price point had something to do with the extent of the work that would be done was well). SO after being to several places and being told no to my leopard spots EVERY time I came up with a solution....a black star SURROUNDED by leopard spots....

I think the banter with the artist before we even got started was the funniest part of the day... he called me an "awkward personality" some may call it a bitch...I call it assertive and no-nonsense.

Here's the start of the spots....I LOVE them...after all, "a leopard doesn't change her spots"

Before I could snap an after He slathered it up and covered it up....which I should be grateful for...It bled throughout the course of the afternoon....

HERE is the finished product (this is still swollen and only 6 hours after the work)

I LOVE it and it totally suits me!!! Readers, let the lesson be DON'T get permanent ink for a fleeting moment....

A DAY IN THE LIFE>>>>>>
