WIWW

YAY!! It's Wednesday!! That means its time to show you what I wore!! I'm also gonna see what you all wore over at The Pleated Poppy http://thepleatedpoppy.com/blog/

I tried a few different things this week....the first was Wednesday when I wore a collared button down....very awkward for me....So I added heels and accessories hoping to girl it up....

What I am wearing:
Jacket - Old - 2003
Mint green shirt - Vintage via the Thrift (last week)
Capris - Maurices
Purse - Coach
Shoes - Target 2009
Accessories - Misc / made by me (Notice on my left wrist  - right wrist to you...I am wearing the rhinestone bracelet I polished last week)

I tried again to take a picture outside....and I feel like it was a miserable fail...how do all you outside photogs do it?!?!?

Can you guess where I went Thursday? My shirt is a hint....

I went on a field trip to the zoo with my son's 1st grade class (or else I would never have worn gym shoes with this ensemble)

What I am wearing:
Leopard Shirt - Rue 21
Collared Shirt - Target via the thrift (I mixed 2 patterns....the leopard and the pattern in the collared shirt)
Jeans - Maurices
Purse - Vintage Coach
Black gym shoes - Puma

Friday I piled on the accessories.....

What I am wearing:
New York Tee - Maurices
Capri's - Maurices
Flip Flops - Wal-Mart
Bracelets - Made by moi and past Mother's Day gifts handmade by Maya

Saturday was spent outdoors on a cool overcast day and I wanted to be comfy (hence the hood in case of rain - I should've dressed up the outfit with a scarf cuz it was chilly enough)
What I'm wearing:
Hooded Jacket - Walmart
Grey V-Neck Tee( Not seen) - Target
Jeans - Maurices
Purse - VIntage Coach
Gym Shoes - Nike old

Sunday was Mother's Day and if you saw my previous post you know I went flower shopping with my momma and then dinner with the fam

What I am wearing:
Shirt (can you see the lace panel in the sleeves) - Kohl's 2010
Leopard Scarf - Family Dollar
Capris - Maurices
Sandals - Thrifted

This is like where's Waldo....can anyone see the difference between the above and below pics?
Monday was a day spent in yoga pants getting stuff done....we all have those days and I figured since I documented it last week, we're cool!!

Tuesday was a day spent at the doctors office....3 different appointments....Now ladies, lemme tell you - if you are going for an ultrasound (NO, NOT PREGNANT) and the urologist (I am testing to be a kidney donor for my dad) all I had to do was pull my dress up INSTEAD of undressing, so just a lil tip...wear a dress and you get to keep your own clothes on!!

What I am wearing:
Brown Dress - Wal-Mart
Orange Purse - Thrifted last week
Wedges - Rocket Dog via Marshall's
I fell in LOVE with the pattern when I saw these!! And even though they are patterned, I figured they would be a neutral!! I figured if my feel were gonna be in the air, I should be wearing some FAB shoes!!

Can't wait to be inspired by what you wore!!

Thrifty Tuesday

Hi Friends! It's THRIFTY Tuesday here at Object of Maya*ffection!! The items you are about to see were JUST thrifted today! I hit the thrift JACKPOT today!!

First up is this pretty FAB vintage umbrella in PERFECT shape!! Doesn't it look like something we could run to Target and buy today!?!?!

I picked up this dreadful denim vest(I went with the intention of getting a denim jacket and cutting the sleeves off for an upcoming project)....BUT there were no denim jackets (which was kinda weird) and this was already a vest!! Wait til you see the makeover (I hope it comes out FAB)

Ok, so we're friends right? Are these shoes AWESOME or AWFUL?

Tell me friends, could these be cute with the right skirt or pair of shorts?

I know they are old BUT are they old lady-ish? Like circa the Golden Girls (whom I happen to LOVE and put as my going nighty nigh show)....Since neon is so HOT right now I figured I maybe could pull these off with the right outfit!!

I also picked these FABBY McFab wedges up at the thrift too! NOW, they were a lil tight (BUT I am attributing that to me being on my feet all morning in OTHER wedges) so If by chance they don't "stretch" I will be selling them!

But they are pretty FAB aren't they!?!?! Maybe I can wear them when I am NOT walking?!?

Mani Monday

Last week while perusing blogland I found a FUN link at Glitter and Gloss http://www.glitterandglossblog.com/ called Mani Monday...if you LOVE having fun unique nails that you can do yourself - check it out!!

I have been wanting to use these Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail strips for awhile now BUT wanted to do something really fun. SO I grabbed the strips and just began pulling coordinating polishes out of my case....

HERE is the mani:

...and I used ALL these to do it! DON'T be daunted by all the products pictured....it was so fun to do layers and layers....
L to R: Pink is by Color Club "He Loves Me", Purple is Sally Hansen "Lacey Lilac", white is Pure Ice "Superstar", Grey is Pure Ice "Kiss Me Here", there is an Art Deco in Solid Black and another in Black glitter and Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Strips in "Hear Me Roar"

My thumb is the nail strip. Pointer finger is the grey with the Revlon Nail decals over it, Middle finger is white with the art deco black glitter done is a swept up motion (this one was my FAVE and I want to do an entire mani in it) the purple is the lacey lilac with a black revlon lace nail decal and the pink is the color club with black spots painted on the with the art deco black. I think these nails worked because of the color palette....black and white repeated and in the same saturation of color.
OF COURSE the toes had to match too!! I'd love to see what you did! Linking up with Heather and the girls!!

HAPPY MOTHER's DAY

As the day's activities have winded down and the kiddies are all tucked in their bad, I want to take this chance to wish y'all a HAPPY MOTHER's DAY and show you what I did today!! I am truly blessed to be a mom, some days are challenging BUT I would NEVER trade them for anything! When you become a mother, there isn't a manual or rule book you are given at the hospital! You make mistakes along the way, your children learn form you and you form them - you learn together!

Every year I take my mom flower shopping on Mother's Day...we were just talking today about how long ago the tradition started....neither of us remember exactly BUT we think it's somewhere between 4-5 years ago. My girl has been going with us for the past 3!

We went to Home Depot and found lots of pretty things.....

I've ALWAYS loved these rounded rose tree shrubs.....

Mom and I working on a plan for her window boxes.....
We BOTH LOVED these flowers....we spotted them from a distance....we've never seen anything like them....

It's a Percy Wiseman Rhododendron.....have you planted one? The blush colors are so GORG!!

After all that flower shopping we needed a lil caffeine re-charge...CHEERS! To Starbucks

This is such a GREAT PIC OF MY MOM - SHE hates taking pics BUT she looks so happy here!

Gardening is one of her FAVEY activities....you will see what I mean....
Me and my lil jokesters had a photo session in the back yard (LOOK AROUND at all the beautiful landscaping in the background)

I love that mom captured this pic - the orchestration process.....

For THIS fun pic
(which coincidentally was Maya's idea) L O V E!!

Happy Mother's Day to my mom....a woman who has shown me don't be afraid to work hard, always try to do the right things, treat people the way you want to be treated, serve a meal of a protein; starch and a vegetable, it's in the presentation, how to make the holidays come to life for your children, how to think outside the box, and to love....sometimes tough love and other times the kinda love that scoops ya up when ya most need it...for these things and SO MANY more, THANK YOU MOM! I LOVE YOU!!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

A day in the life.....

I should have titled this post a day in the ANIMAL life!! Most pics from this week happen to be of the animal species....Maybe that's because I went on my son's zoo field trip, went to a Children's Petting Zoo and just so happen to live where nature does! For example....the backyard is FULL of these...

Fuzzy wuzzy caterpillars that my lil guy isn't afraid to handle....

A lil preview of the good that will make their debut at "THE PEC THING" at the Winnebago County Fairgrounds next weekend....

A beautiful sky scape

Another one of my son's catches.....he landed here AFTER I was chased around the yard with him!!

Saw these scary hairy critter at the zoo.....

At the children's zoo there were Ducks? Geese? Does anyone know what these are? With their lil babes..

MY lil babe on a pony.....

Lil cutie pigs....made me feel bad for  loving bacon so! (speaking of, in the boys section at Target there is a t-shirt that says I Love Bacon...momma thinks she needs that shirt - but NOT to be worn here)

I Love pigs! They are so ugly they are cute! A few years ago I had a fancy for pigs with wings.....

The kids loved the Children's Petting Zoo...it's part of the park district and equine center....I have to take my daughter back one day so we can go riding....she was bummed we couldn't go today BUT the youngest riders can be 8 and my lil guy is still 6....

Foodie Friday Spaghetti Squash and Wendy's

Have you tried Spaghetti Squash (SS)?!?! You don't have to be a vegetarian...or LOVE veggies to love this! I can't remember when I discovered SS (I think it was when I did the South Beach Diet....does that sound right?!?!). Anyway, if you decide you want to give it a go, pick one up at the grocery store (if you are unsure if it IS in fact a spaghetti squash, look at the sticker...there is usually a sticker on the squash). Cut in half (as shown) and put in about 3/4" of water (I add olive oil, garlic powder with lavender and pepper) and bake for about 25 minutes at 350 (of course this will depend on the size of your squash and if you like your squash al dente or soft).

When the time is up, remove form the stove and allow to cool about 5 minutes....then take your fork and rake from side to side....

and then you will have SPAGHETTI SQUASH
Add your favorite "homemade" sauce (I prefer Classico Italian Sausage and Peppers) and some Ciabatta  Garlic bread and VIOLÁ.....

Ok, now that we have covered healthy, lets talk about not so healthy....any guesses what THIS is?

That's right peeps! This is a 120 option Coke machine at WENDY'S!! I tried a "dreamsicle" coke which was orange coke zero (I KNOW, sounds weird, right?!?!? SO I HAD to try it) with vanilla coke zero....you use a touchscreen to make YOUR customized beverage...

and just in case you wondered....Wendy's now has Chili cheese fries - YUM-O
Ciao ~or~ CHOW! Have a great weekend!
