Thrifty Tuesday DENIM VEST

Blog surfing one day I saw the Nicole Richie sleeveless denim vest and she told us how to make a similar version (SO SORRY I can't remember the blog)....SO I set out to find some inspiration.....

Found the ABOVE on Polyvore for 360....Love the skull and roses.....

Below is Nicole Richie in a sleeveless denim vest....

Being thrifty and creative I KNEW this challenge was right up my alley....I found this "BEAUTY" at the thrift....

That corduroy collar was AWFUL!!! So I cut it off...

and as for the back....I got a lace shirt at the thrift, washed and cut to fit the insert on the back of the jacket and used seam and bond cuz this momma doesn't sew!!! ANd VIOLA!!

I want to find some iron on pearl bling (like the rhinestones) to add the sweet to the sassy!! Have you seen something like that anywhere?

Mani Monday

Yesterday I did my nails and wanted something summery and FUN!! My new job is a lil on the conservative side (from what I've been told - I will make my own assessment as time goes on) So I had to keep the nails "reasonable"

I chose to do my fingers and toes in OPI's "Charged Up Cherry"

And for some fun I added a bright orange stripe across the bottom of my toe nails for a FUN twist on the French Mani....fun but not over bearing - PERFECT for work!!

I am linking up with Heather at Glitter and Gloss http://www.glitterandglossblog.com/2012/06/mani-monday_18.html for Mani Monday!

Father's Day

I didn't get to spend Father's Day with my dad today....in case you haven't heard, he was the recipient of a cadaver(thank you kind soul for being an organ donor) kidney Monday.....which means he has no immune system as he is on anti-rejection meds...and my lil guy has been throwing up all day...not sure if it's something we ate OR the flu....don't wanna take the chance...

This kidney has been a blessing for our family - my dad has been given a second lease on life!! It's so bizarre because last Sunday he said something to the affect that it is his biggest wish to not to have to go to dialysis again and he got the call about the kidney Sunday night - do ya think God had a hand in that?

A Day in the life.....

A day in the life is lil snippets of what I was up to this week....

Sunday my car hit 123, 456 miles - YIKES!!!

Monday my dad had his kidney transplant and is doing GREAT! Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers!

This was one of the many hospital courtyards....gorgeous landscaping

While at Macy's having a link on my watch fixed, I perused the Betsy Johnson for Macy's line - can we say L O V E!?!?!?!?
I am coveting this sequin leopard bag and matching wallet

And these skully earrings (I also like the difference in lengths on the pair on the right...brings me back to the 90's!!)

LOVE these bracelets....I want to try and emulate them

and sadly my week ends with a peeling would've been tan but burned shoulder....it looks WORSE than it feels

Off to Michael's to get some of those fancy (ie neat and clear) chalk markers to make our summer fun list! HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Foodie Friday Homemade Panini and Starbucks

I had some delish french bread left over and decided to use it for Grilled Cheese...HOWEVER, the bread wasn't browning properly and I don't have a panini press SO I had to get creative and use a dessert plate stacked with 2 glass measuring cups....

TA-DA!! Here is the sandwich, one side browned....
Here is my healthy lunch! A half a grilled panini cheese sandwich (you could add turkey, bacon, ham, etc) some baked lays, apples and mango with lime and latin seasoning and these new delish starbucks beverages....

It's a strawberry lemonade refresher with Green Coffee Extract...pick one up today and give it a try - SO GOOD! A light fizzy refresher!

TRY It Thursday BE NICE

First I want to say THANK YOU for all those of you keeping my dad and family in your thoughts and prayers! My dad is on the mend and doing as well as expected - again THANK GOD!

This post isn't a project, or a FAB new product....it's some advice....We ALL KNOW it....we just don't always apply it....it's so simple.....
BE NICE.....

(image via Pinterest)

You never know what someone else has going on....YOUR words could be the thing that makes their day or breaks their day.....

So with that said, Ask somebody "How are you today? and take an interest, try to draw them out and find out how they are feeling"

Say Hello! Good Morning, Good Afternoon, or Good Evening....

Instead of texting, send a handwritten note......

It's easy to do when you have PRETTY notecards....you can make them yourself, but them at Target's Dollarspot or order them from Etsy! Keep them organized and all your mailing supplies together.....

Pay a stranger a compliment - it's EASY!! Tell them you like their shoes, their earrings, their umbrella - anything! It's a sure way to brighten their day!!

In an effort to showcase nice leave me a comment of something nice you have done or something nice that was done for you!!
