SHUT THE Front door Friday

The Evolution of the Halloween / Fall Porch

What started out like this....

Became more fall like when I added the bale of hay....

Do you see what I added next?!?!?!

Mr. Scarecrow is resting atop the hay....But I decided he needed so feathered friends of sorts....

And as we all know, feathered friends need a perch....So my mom and I went walking one day and picked through a brush pile on the curb to procure these "branches"

I added my (metal) fine feathered friends...

and then I added so black crows....

When you got your October edition of County Living I KNOW you fell in love with at least ONE element on the cover - mine was the half and half pumpkin....

So as any good crafter does, I ran to Michael's to get my large funkin....which thankfully was half off...

and I painted her Robins egg blue and gold....
(this picture was taken near sunrise this morning hence the darker hues)

I want to try and do a fall porch linky party...is anyone game?!?! I'd LOVE to see how you decorated YOUR front porch, stoop, patio, etc

I saw it, I Pinned it - I DID IT - Organization - plastic bags

I think most all of us know and have a love/hate relationship with Pinterest (LOVE so many inspiring ideas - HATE that we can get sucked into the vortex and next thing you know it's 3 hours later). Anyway, on another blog, she's doing a pin a day (everyday she is doing one project she has pinned - small or big depending) and blogging about it - I thought that's GREAT motivation for me to start putting into action what I pin!! SO, here it is!!!

Here is MY completed pin....

Here is my Pinspiration (the original from Pinterest is on the left and horizontal, MINE is on the right and vertical)
I just used a few strips of command adhesive on the back of the kleenex box and applied to the cabinet. I do roll my plastic bags, so they are nice and neat (I have for years - it allows me to check for holes and kept them corralled).

What have YOU pinned and tried?

Thrifty Tuesday Milk Glass Hobnail Glass

This thrifty Tuesday is highlighting a few pieces I have collected in the last few weeks....some milk glass and dome white hobnail glass....I have found that going to the thrift store with NO agenda yields the best treasures (BUT can be budget un-friendly IF you don't say no to that 10th silver candlestick).

I have collected these pieces from various thrift stores...

The milk glass dish on the left was .59, the hobnail glass in the back was .99, the ruffled bowls are anchor hocking AND have a star in the bottom (I think they were jello molds?) but the kids LOVE the star in bottom once they finish their cereal, etc I think those were .99 / each and the hobnail oval sugar? dish was $1.99, the bottom tray is a microwave plate of some sort BUT I knew it would make the perfect serving platter for only .99

I will be able to incorporate these pieces throughout the house (the platter and bowls are currently in the kitchen cabinets and have been used several times).

What treasure have YOU stumbled upon?!?!

Makeover Monday Halloween Snapshots around the house

Happy Monday!! Today I am posting pics of the Halloween decor that can be found around my home this month....Picture heavy so grab your cuppa coffee and enjoy!!

ps, one night at dinner the kids and I played a game of "I spy" where they took turns finding the halloween decor that I had put up that day (I had decorated a bit a few weeks before BUT pulled out more the other day....by playing I spy they had fun finding the new decor!!). This was a fun way for us to connect over the dinner table and do something a lil different!

"wicked" banner above the tv, scaredy cat and "beware!" written on chalk globe

Skully Zsa Zsa....she has pearl eyes and her head lies on a bed of pearls.....

Vintage anagram pumpkin sign (this is for sale BUT until it sells, I will enjoy it) amidst my pumpkin collection....

Holiday treat buffet....

Do you see what I see?

This ghost is vintage...my grandmother gave it to MY mother when I was a child, and now my mother has passed it on to me....So special and sentimental - thanks mom!!

The children's gallery wall was spooked up for the occasion....

I added bones, skulls and spiders to my vase of apples....

... a few spiders  crawled into the crown as well.....

Bewitched sees  you off at the front door....
I'd LOVE to see how YOU decorate! Leave me a message with your blog link so I can check it out!! Happy Haunting!
