THRIFTY Tuesday Getting organized Starting with Scarves

SO as you may or may not know I simply ADORE a trip to the thrift shop anytime my schedule or pocketbook (yes, I'm serious - thirfting has become a want not a need these days) allows. Sometimes I go for very specific items (which I usually strike out) but it seems when I go with NO agenda it's when I get the best finds!! Case in point....

This lil baby for .89 (which was probably half off at that!!). It's a tie organizer (I think) I've been meaning to add some organization to my closet....after all, a girl with lots of accessories NEEDS to be organized!! SO after a thorough cleaning with bleach....and a day (actually a week by the time I got back to it) to dry....I started with THIS mess....

BUT I will say it was "organized chaos" I could always find what I was looking for!!

 and AFTER!!!
While I was organizing the scarves I also decided to organize my belts (I already had this hanger)

aaahh....much more orderly - wouldn't you say?!?!

What's in YOUR closet?!?!

FOODIE Friday HOBO PACKET

Foil Cooking
Wrap raw ingredients in a foil packet, cook it on a grill and what you've got is a hobo pack. This technique combines the freshness of steaming with the intense flavor of grilling, since the high heat caramelizes the food on the bottom of the pack. Start with Jerk Seafood Packs or another one of the recipes here, then experiment. Lightly oil the foil to discourage food from sticking, or toss ingredients with a little oil or butter. Add vegetables or fruit, then layer seafood, chicken or meat and flavorings (such as herbs, olives, capers, chiles or onions) on top. The trick is to choose quick-cooking ingredients; cut up the larger ones that require more time so that everything in the pack finishes simultaneously.

THIS is what I made for dinner last nite....
I've made them once before a few years ago BUT was guided by a Boy Scout who had just done them a few weeks before for Scouts....Apparently they aren't exclusive to the Boy Scouts (see article above from Food & Wine). I defrosted the ground beef in the morning planning to make cheeseburgers for dinner BUT when we used the buns at lunch I said "gonna have to go to the grocery store....but then I said WAIT - what else can I make that doesn't require me going to the store {not that it mattered - we went to the grocery store later which resulted in a melt down because we couldn't compromise on an ice cream - story for another day} While I was running my brain for food ideas, I remembered the foil packet - did a lil research (which really was unecessary - you can put ANYTHING in a foil pack).
My base was potatoes (for my daughter and I - my lil guy - NOT a potato eater - so he had corn) I added red onion and garlic to mine...drizzled with a lil olive oil (put some on the foil too BEFORE you add your ingredients)
I added the pattied ground beef (seasoned with Adobo and A texas grilling seasoning)
 Topped with bacon bits
Added shredded cheese (note: cheese TOTALLY melted)

VIOLA!!! Gorgeous carmelized meat and potatoes - can't get more all american than that!!

DEADBEAT DADS....Can someone EXPLAIN how the legal system works

I NEVER NEVER use my blog for politics or calling people out....BUT today I am doing that...I don't know how else to get PUBLIC attention or answers to my questions. Can anyone tell me how a single mom can get help?!??!!? I am that single mom - I have 2 kids and the court only ordered their dad to pay 72.00/a week....because he pays 100.00/week to his other baby's momma....BUT y'all here's the kicker!! He has a newer car, a motorcycle, is adding an addition to his (trailer) "home", gets tattoos and just bought a $700.00 dog - WHERE IS THE JUSTICE?!?!?! He's never on time with his child support- we go to court  - he brings a $72.00 check and the judge says "he's trying" and EXCUSES him....my children have had to understand that we can't go out to eat, we can't go to the movies, we can't get new clothes for summer, you can't do that sports camp, we CAN'T do anything....NOW I work - PT (I still need to be here to raise the kids, get them to school activities come the school year) at a retail job - I HUSTLE to make my bonuses, I sell things in ebay on the side and it's still not enough - if you have kids you KNOW how expensive they can be...SO this is MY public plea....if you KNOW of any free legal services (besides the states atty and the atty general because they don't do squat) please leave a comment, OR if YOU have done anything that has proven works to get by and raise your kids please comment!!

BTW, THESE ARE WHAT LYING DEADBEATS LOOK LIKE

THRIFTY TUESDAY LARGE ADDRESS NUMBER PLAQUES

I was in the hunt for LARGE address numbers that are unique and inexpensive....BECAUSE this was my current "address plaque"

Peel and stick numbers....that had seen their better days...PRETTY pitiful wouldn't you say?!?!

I searched Menards and Home Depot for numbers....and wasn't paying $4.00 for a 5" metal skinny number...so I happened to stop in HobLob one day and BAM!!! EXACTLY what I was looking for...
Not only are they large and whimsical BUT I paid $4.50 for ALL THREE!!! (Have to love HobLob's 50% off sales). White is a fine color BUT I wanted them to really POP....SO I gave them a coat of black glitter fleck spray paint....attached some command adhesives to the back

And VIOLA!!!
