A Day in the life....

Please tell me someone else out there is feeling the "winter blahs"!?!?!?! I haven't blogged regularly as of late because I've been in a bit of a funk...I'm attributing it to the weather....the winter blahs that just won't go away!! Last year at this time we were sportin flip flops and t-shirts here in the midwest with temps in the balmy 80's!! Anywho, here's what I've been up to this past week!!!

 Celebrated my dad's birthday!! Our usual spot Moy Lee's in the City....HAPPY Birthday Dad!!

Went in and did my placement testing for school - that's right y'all momma's going back to college...I'd day it's time to finish and get a degree - don't you agree??!?! Now in full disclosure, it was big and scary looking (it's been 17 years since I've been in college - HOLY COW - where does time go!?!?!?) and a tad bit akward BUT it was SUCH a feeling of accomplishment once I finished my tests...a lil discouraging to be in the elementary algebra category (I did not know there was a study guide on line or else I would've studied before I went!!). In the next week or so I will be registering - WOOT WOOT!

SUPA low of the week...see that pretty pearl like spot on the kidney in the right of the picture? Yeah, that's a 1cm kidney stone...BOO....I had ESWL (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy) prodecure on Tuesday and I am almost feeling back to normal...I was put under anesthesia (which is SO SCARY to me and I hate)

 My SUPA FAB sis drove 3 hours EACH WAY out to me to take me in for my procedure, wait and bring me back home....thank you Steph for re-arranging your entire day to be there for me - it meant more than you will EVER KNOW! Love ya!

FOODIE Friday Cheeseburger Soup

I'm sure you've seen this recipe all over Pinterest...I ONLY made it because my girl Merleen made it and brought it to work - SO DELISH!! 

Nothin better than fresh ingredients....

Brown your ground beef....remove and drain...add some butta (I will past the recipe at the bottom) and cook your carrots, onions and celery until translucent...

 Add ground beef and potatoes....

In a seperate pan melt 2 tbsp of butter and some flour to make a rue of sorts....

Add some Chicken Stock....

Add flour rue, cubes of velveta and sour cream...

Top with bacon crumbles, pepper and shredded cheese....Buen Provecho!

• 1/2 pound ground beef
• 3/4 cup chopped onion
• 3/4 cup shredded carrots
• 3/4 cup chopped celery
• 1 teaspoon dried basil
• 1 teaspoon dried parsley
• 4 tablespoons butter
  
  
  1. In a large pot, melt 1 tablespoon butter or margarine over medium heat: cook and stir vegetables and beef , until beef is brown.
  2. Stir in basil and parsley. Add broth and potatoes. Bring to a boil, then simmer until potatoes are tender, about 10-12 minutes.
  3. Melt the remainder of butter and stir in flour. Add the milk, stirring until smooth.
  4. Gradually add milk mixture to the soup, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to simmer. Stir in cheese. When cheese is melted, add sour cream and heat through. Do not boil.

• 3 cups chicken broth
• 4 cups cubed potatoes
• 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
• 2 cups cubed Cheddar cheese
• 1 1/2 cups milk
• 1/4 cup sour cream

EVERY outfit should be a lil fun!! I got a denim vest at the thrift last fall and wear it ALL the time...SO I thought this GAP grey (perfect classic) sleeveless sweatshirt would be fun for spring....

Found this striped (maternity) top and KNEW it would make a FUN DRESS (it's the old style maternity top that is like a dress!! and NO, I am NOT pregnant). 

When layered together aren't they adorbs?!?!? Sassy with wedges, classic with Chuck Taylors!! 
The vest is from the boys section....When thrifting don't limit yourself to just the women's section - look in EACH section because you never know what you may find - sometimes things are hung in the wrong spot and other times, there are just fab fun things!!

Mani Monday

WHO doesn't LOVE a good pin?!?!!? Found this while looking thru Pinterst one night and said "I can totally do this!!"

Here is my version (don't look too closely at the cuticles...this was RIGHT after I polished and didn't get the excess off my cuticles yet)

I LOVED the green color - it was FUN but neutral enough!! 

I used Revlon Color Stay "Spanish Moss" for the green, Revlon Top Speed "Black Star" for the tips and Art Deco Sliver glitter for the line in between....Linking up with Heather at Glitter & Gloss for Mani Monday!

Steak nachos for dinner 

MORE of that white stuff!! Where is that super mild winter we had last year?!?!

Attempting to jump start my Woody (I've never used jumper cables before!) I was unsuccessful BUT not sure if it was the battery (which is now new) OR the lack of gas (the very small amount that was in there probably froze) BUT Woody's up and running!! 

 Decided to experiment with some blue eyeliner...

 To keep it from being too 80's I only did blue on the bottom and inner parts of my eye (near my nose) and I did my usual black on top. I thought it was fun!

I'm SO TIRED of the snow!!! 

BUT if you have to wear boots, they may as well leave an impression....

 SINCE the weather was so blustery I decided to do some cleaning (starting in my lil guys room - 4 hours later it looked like it should!!)...anyway, while going thru his stack of papers I found this....did you just giggle too?!?!

It's a squash with a FACE!!!

I also cleaned my make-up brushes...I ♥ how they are lined up like lil soldiers!!

I used THIS cleaner (it came on one of my Birchboxes) and it is FAB!!! Got them perfectly clean, left them nice and soft...

Once the first round of snow melted I took the car to get all the salt and sand off - um when did a drive thru car wash become $9.00 for the medium grade wash?!?!?! AND I didn't even get a discount on my gas!!!!

I LOVE weekends when I can make a nice breakfast...and EVERYTHING is better with bacon!!

Woody is going to be the DEATH of me!! He's still having starting issues (although the problem MAY be figured out - I'll keep ya posted) BUT to get him started this day it took me gettin' my hands dirty - LITERALLY...like climbing under the hood and tossing some gas inside the big round thing! LOL

Dear Universe, I would totally love to RAWK this bag this spring / summer....can you just drop one on my doorstep, please?!?!

And I ran...once - so far - yesterday....I would LOVE to keep it up! In my mind I run like a gazelle BUT I am quite certain I look more like a donkey!!
