THRIFTY TUESDAY....#thriftstore FINDS

I had another post planned for today (growing your own celery from the "root" or leftover part we always cut off and throw away....it was doing awesome in the house....

once I put it outside the dang rabbits had a field day....it's been a tough summer for an edible garden with these rabbits....there are 6 babies that live in the area). SO instead we'll talk about my thrifted finds from Goodwill and The Salvation Army...same week....

I went to Goodwill just to see what's shakin there (I haven't been in a few months). I wasn't looking for anything in particular.....I SCORED some fab stuff and the irony is apparently I was on a theme without even realizing it until I took these pictures....

I just couldn't pass up this picture....it spoke to me...I still don't have a home for it BUT I had to have it!!!(and now I need a serape to lay across the table).

Baskets are such an EASY way to store items, change the look of existing pots, hold utilitarian objects and make them fabulous!!! (see my white ceramic tortilla holder !?!?! SWOON!!!!! That was the FIRST thing I picked up...knowing it would be perfect in my hutch with all my white ware AND we'd really use it)
I LOVE these glass candle holders (I would guess from a church? )

AS I was at the checkout I saw this purse out of the corner of my eye - NEED!!! Pretty camel and coral....quilted chanel-like look....

AND as I was taking the photos for this post I noticed IT TOO was "made in mexico" WHAT?!?!?! What are the chances?!?!?! It was a very latin haul and I LOVE it!!!

What have YOU thrifted lately?!??!!

THRIFTY TUESDAY...CURBSIDE PICKIN #ironchairs

I don't know about you BUT I LOVE a good neighborhood drive thru on garbage day (well actually the night before BECAUSE our garbage men come at 5am)....sometimes I have to go in the dark (which can be challenging BUT not impossible) for example last week I FOUND all these beauties at one stop....

I CAN'T believe these were still there!!! Usually the metal scrappers get there FIRST and I HATE when perfectly good stuff gets scrapped!!

The chairs match PERFECTLY with my patio table and will make great head table chairs for dinners (when entertaining I pull the table out and move the grill and the chaises to the lawn - they can't permanently reside there because of association by-laws and the lawn guy)

They match my chaise lounges....

And when I am NOT using them at the patio table they will be on front of the house (which we actually sit here quite a bit) replacing the pink ones that sold

I'll show an updated pic once I get them settled in their home and a fresh coat of paint!!

TRY IT THURSDAY.....FRAMED FLAG #4thofjuly

Do you put out these lil flags every Memorial, 4th and Labor day? In your planters? Along your pathway? I do....and some weather pretty well and others are worse for the wear (ie the sticks LITERALLY crack in half!! As was the story with MOST my lil yard flags)....I've been told you aren't supposed to throw flags away ("they" probably just mean the large flags BUT I still couldn't throw these babies away) SO I glue them to kabob skewers (as seen below) and then I figured I could make my OWN pennant flags from some eyelet pillowcase trim)....BUT I still had one lil lonely broken flag left....

SO, I framed it!!! I used to have my own boutique and I had a buncha these frames with various signage (as seen by the old navy sign) so I simply removed the flag from the broken stick (I did try to bleach it to give it a paler coloring - when that didn't work I left it out in the rain and sun for several days STILL to no avail...America's tough) and popped it into the frame....I LOVE it!!! I thought about doing this last year and never did (seems the simplest projects are the ones that get put off the longest).

How have YOU decorated for the 4th?!?!? Leave me your blog link so I can check it out!!!

THRIFTY TUESDAY....USE WHAT YOU HAVE Living ROOM SUMMER Refresh

AS bloggers we LOVE to decorate for the different seasons....SUMMER is no different, the decor is lighter, more fresh flowers and plants...easy carefree living....Today i am going to show you how a few SIMPLE swap outs can change things...

Ya know how you peruse thru blogs and see something you TOTALLY love and then the stars align and VIOLA you have your own version of it?!?!?!? I was on Shabbyfufu's blog (this post right here http://www.shabbyfufublog.com/2015/04/inspired-by-forgotten-five-dollar.html - check it out....she had a GORG flamingo painting....I was at the neighborhood garage sale the weekend of the flea market and spotted this BEAUTY....see that price tag?!??!! .25 OH YEAH!!!!

I LOVE the vintage paint by number and wanted the frame to be a bit more elegant (I did toy with the idea of whitewashing it or painting Robins egg blue BUT I worried it would COMPETE with the print) SO GOLD It was!!!

(the pic above gave a lil preview of the changes) this pic BELOW is how that corner looked all winter....I think when the calendar says summer (even tho here in the midwest it's been nothing but rain) it's time to take the deers down....

So I swapped the yellow vintage shade for a light and airy linen shade (and added a creamy organza bow)

...touches of pink to tie in the "flyingmingos" as my daughter used to call them....

My throw pillow has subtle touches of pink because I colored it in with a sharpie (YES I did!!! see the post HERE http://objectofmayaffection.blogspot.com/2015/06/manic-mondayusing-sharpie-to-change.html I couldn't find the right pillows I wanted so I touched up my own)

I put up some patriotic decor for the 4th of July....

Added my deer skull (I KNOW I KNOW I just said take down the deer skulls BUT this one reminds me of that COVETED cow skull I want AND I added a flower crown)

Cleared off the coffee table.....kept it simple for summer

Kicked my feet up and enjoyed my handi-work!!!

Do YOU change up your place for the summer?!??! If so leave me the link so I can check it out!!!

MANIC MONDAY....DEER SKULL

Last month at the flea market after MUCH haggling and settling I got that FAB deer skull on the bottom right...

I have been wanting a horned cow skull for awhile....and I imagined when I found one I'd embellish it....
 Like ANY of these images....
(mmmkay I know mine's a deer skull BUT I COULD still paint or embellish it)
First things first, I had to figure out how I was going to hang it (there are only teeth on one side SO it makes it lopsided, and after getting the twine thru the back of the head THAT didn't allow for a flat display either SO I wrapped it around the antlers and we were in business....

I wasn't quite ready to make a decision re painting or embellishing SO I thought I
d hang it and let it speak to me....I didi add the crown of flowers...similar to the pic with the black skull and the roses on its head....

I am LOVING it, my kids are worried it's going to decapitate someone and my neighbor just doesn't get it!!

A DAY IN THE LIFE....

...Pics via my iphone from the week....
(A day late)

FUNKY pretty flowers at Starbucks (YES, they were real - of course I HAD to feel them)

The pup lost a tooth....we noticed she was chewing on something and it was her tooth....

Cake for BREAKFAST!! Why NOT?!?!?! Pretty "Spring Velvet"

NEVER FAILS....my day off and the lawn guy comes....he's one guy mowing over a dozen lawns SO he's here ALL DAY...no peace and quiet for me (AND he doesn't blow the grass off the drive which BURNS my a$$)

Sittin, Sippin and catchin up with my gurl....

Who later sent me THIS!!! I heart her!!! I always joke we are Thelma and Louise!!!

Trying the curly natural look on for size (I ALWAYS wore my hair like this "back in the day" BUT it was longer then SO I wasn't sure if it was long enough yet.....)

LOVE when other patio farmers share their wealth!!! I am TOTALY feeling the natural organic thinking I can live on a farm bit!!

Milkyway S'mores with my kiddo's

Got a pedicure from my daughter (I'm too scared to go in for a real pedi - see my "cancer toe" on the left foot? Been like that since FEB and I'm FINALLY getting into the dermatologist then end of July...my doc saw it and wanted no part of it - referred me to the derm)

The after! Red, white, blue and skully on the "cancer toe"

There's INSPIRATION EVERYWHERE (as bloggers we know that and we see things differently). LOVED these pots....Gonna add burlap to my hanging baskets (which JUST so happen to be this shape....ya know how you see something and it triggers your mind...I didn't have my hanging baskets out until AFTER I saw this...my flowers were just in the baskets they came in - GENERIC) and the palm with the decorative peppers and pop of pink - SWOON!!!!
ANOTHER inspiration is everywhere picture....LOVE these day of the dead skulls.....wanna try my hand at cilantro infused vodka and the Chicago bottle - NEED!!
what have YOU been up to?!?!?
