Sassy and Shabby

For the love of all things Vintage

If you've been reading for awhile you KNOW of my love for @dollartree faux nails. AMAZING designs, only a dolla and they typically last about a week (depending what projects or cleaning I am doing). Here is LAST week's Mani Monday....

The SECRET is picking up the nail design you like WHENEVER you see it (because they sell out quickly). I bought these back in July. They're perfect ANYTIME of year BUT I knew they'd be especially perfect for "fall".

I have St. Patrick's Day designs for next year, red and black ombre for around Halloween, glitter for the holidays....Have YOU tried Dollar Tree's nails?!?!

I LOVE a good find!!! Last week I got to go garage sale-ing and found a few pretty good pieces...

(obvi the napkins are from Target and the other from Homegoods BUT this ENTIRE haul was $10.00 - TOTAL). See the apple picture?!?!? While it IS beautiful, I really bought it for the mirrored frame - I paid $2.00.

I pried up the apple pic to see if it would loosen without tearing the fabric and it did!!!

I needed some type of backing for my picture as it was slightly smaller than the glue spots left behind....

I was going to use a scrap of denim from an old pair of jeans BUT it wasn't wide I dug through my scrapbook paper and found this blue tissue type glued it down...

Hot glued my cute lil @dollartree Cow print on the paper....and VIOLA!!! My country glam print is ready to be hung!!

I am SO LATE to the youtube game....I NEVER watch videos on there....but one of my insta accounts I follow posted a fall home tour and I've been ADDICTED ever since!! I find so much INSPIRATION on these decorating / haul channels (I mean I TOTALLY wanna make some videos too BUT I'm not ready yet...I want my office to be perfect OR at least usable - like legit the table is COVERED with stuff). Anyway after watching @sharonshesofabulous I was inspired to create FALL FLORAL centerpieces.

While out thrifting one day I found this gorgeous floral urn - already done up like this and I was buying it to piece it out...was going to use the flowers for one thing and the urn for another...

BECAUSE it was ONLY $1.00 for the whole thing....I couldn't buy either the flowers or the urn for under $4.00....

Then I realized it was TOO GORGEOUS to take apart...and I could keep it out year round and just ADD fall this chunky glitter pumpkin I made and showed y'all HERE
I simply added a wooden skewer and stick it sideways into the arrangement....
and then I remembered I had this gorg feather I found at a garage sale (in the driveway out in the country on our way out) and plopped that in there too!!
Now I have this really gorgeous rustic arrangement in my powder room (and the total cost - $2.00). If you have a decor youtube channel leave me your link so I can check it out!!

I have this really (ugly) vintage (not cute) farmhouse style chandelier in my dining room....

While I'd LOVE to swap it out for something legit vintage that I love I am NOT DOWN with electrical lighting and wiring. SO I added a chandelier cord cover to the chain (I have an extra one for sale if anyone's interested)

The cord cover made it SLIGHTLY better....But I KNEW I was ditching the shades (ya know since one was missing and another was broken)

And I wanted to replace them with these really cool exposed bulbs....

As you can see the bottom bulb is $14.50 @ theamazon as Totally Tikaa calls it! And the top one was around 9.00 per bulb I still not awful but def NOT thrifty!!

I found these bulbs on clearance at my local drugstore....

Unique shape, 5 left and $1.40 each - SOLD!!!

(HARD to get a good pic of them lit)
I am content with the outcome (for now). It def looks more updated and I didn't get electricuted in the process - I'm good with that!!

These cooler mornings are giving me all the feels....for FALL!!!! I LOVE everything about it (except getting darker early - DO NOT LIKE THAT PART) the layers, sweaters, PSL er'thing, candles, leaves, apples, cider, fires....

Back in JULY I saw this display at my local @joannfabrics

I am pretty smitten with ALL the pumpkins and know I could DIY most of them! First on the list was the white with the chunky gold glitter bottom....

I purchased my lil jack at Dollar Tree and had the chunky glitter from Targets Dolla spot last Christmas (I couldn't remember why I originally bought the chunky glitter UNTIL I was thinking about senior photos - that's what I bought it for).
Got some wax paper, painted the bottom 1/3 of the pumpkin with white glue and sprinkled the chunky glitter on...

I did this one morning BEFORE work and I felt so accomplished! I let sit to dry....and will be putting it on display NEXT WEEK (well I was holding out for September...tomorrow IS September 1st....).

Next on my list is the feather pumpkin!! What has been your FAVE FALL DIY that I should try?!?!

This year was the first year we've done (or TRIED to do Shark Week - my kids just weren't about it!!). Of course I LOVE a theme!! So I ran with it (with only a week of planning - well, perusing Pinterest).

SUPER easy to make!! Blue Hawaiian Punch (about 2/3 of the glass) 7-up (about a third of the glass or you're ice cream won't fizz) and a scoop of vanilla ice cream...topped off with a gummy shark of course!!!

We borrowed Jaws from the library...CLASSIC Shark Week right?!?! The kids weren't impressed with the 1970's faux shark. I was startled at parts of it!! I don't think I've ever seen jaws in it's entirety until then. For the movie I made SHARK CHOW (popcorn, pretzel and cheddar goldfish and red, white and blue M&M's).

These were FINtastic
(pun totally intended)
Shark Spoons (I blogged the how-to yesterday), Blue jello and cool whip - can't get much simpler than that!!

Do YOU participate in Shark Week?!?! If so, I'd love to know what you do so I can implement next year!!

TRY IT THURSDAY Shark Week Fin Spoons

I saw this CUTE Idea on Pinterest (thank goodness for Pinterest, where would we be creatively without it?!?!).

So here's the HOW TO on the spoons:

I'm super sorry Kilz....I KNOW this is NOT what you intended with your adhesive (VERY LARGE like 8 x 10 paint samples). The color was PERFECT (porpoise grey) and the adhesive part was the

I just free-hand drew a shark fin (remember to FLIP the fin to make the spoons double sided). Cut, peel back your adhesive....
....stick your spoon down and press your other adhesive fin on top!

VIOLA!!! You now have a SHARK FIN SPOON!!!
The Cotton Candy jello was DEELISH and smelled even sweeter!! These jello cups were a HIT!!
