Creative Juices...

and accomplishments! Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night because your mind is reeling with all of these GREAT ideas?!? If so, ya know where I'm coming from! We'll start with this canvas....

not my decor style BUT a canvas is a canvas! I was going to paint it and stencil words on there BUT needed a visual art piece. I remembered I had this vintage fabric from the first house I bought (it was the valance)....I LOVE the tropical hawaiian theme...reminds of something Pottery Barn might have in their bedding line!
BUT when I went to cover the canvas, it picture showed thru SO I had a novel idea....why NOT paint the canvas?! Pretty original, right?
Finished product.....
I was so giddy at tackling all these fun ideas running thru my mind, I forgot how to spell! (not really, I was just showing ya how I spray painted some chipboard letters to coordinate color. Picture stripes and polk dots in purples, oranges and greens).
Because this 'ol girl needed some jazzin up....
So I glued a golden frame to her, added the GLAM letters....
and VIOLA! A small vignette!
This is my FAVORITE project by far! While cleaning out the basement preparing for the big move come June, I came across this....
The bottom shelf to a microwave cart. Hmmm, put this in the toss pile...as I picked up up, I saw this.......

So not only did I keep some wood out of the landfill, I have created a FUN patriotic decor item! Perfect for Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day and any day we're proud to be an American! I've linked up here...

Knee Deep in Projects

We've all been here...lots of projects, FAB ideas and just not enough time during the course of a day!! The first 2 pics are courtesy of my mom AKA Nana! She is the fab-est sewstress I know! Any time I need a stitch here or a hem there mom is there for me! She told me she was making the kids toothfairy pillows (am I a bad mom because Maya hasn't had one thus far and has lots several teeth?) anyway, she sewed these from SCRATCH, the toothfairy is her John Handcock and sewing. These are heirlooms that will be treasured forever! Thanks mom, Love you!

Next is one of "those" projects that's been on my to-do list for 2 years! The pitiful part is it took about 5 minutes or less to do! Started out with a vintage white n red trimmed enamel lid (I think)
Which I transformed into this....
TA-DA!! A fun vintage bird feeder! This will be for sale in the shop!

GLOVEly

Perusing blogland as we all do I saw this ADORABLE lamp shade covered in neckties....while I have a LOT of stuff, I don't have any neckties BUT wait, I do have gloves! Several white and cream mis-matched and pairs, so what the hay?!? Why not try the gloves?!?

Now that the gloves are on there, something still was missing....how about some ribbon?
That's more like it!

Recycle, Reduce and Re-Use

If you're a picture person SKIP on down and bypass my windy explanation :) I was SO ANXIOUS to start this project that I forgot to take a BEFORE (I know, unbelievable). Suffice it to say this board was in the trash when DUH, it occurred to me that I can paint it! Picture this: a country wedgewood blue with the saying 'may all your weeds be wildflowers' (you can now see why it was about to hit the trash!). So, now that I know I can paint it, it needs something more....

So I added some vintage hooks that I purchased from a seller on Etsy, added some numbers (any GUESSES as to what the numbers are?) and VIOLA! The finished project!

After the pain was dry, I roughed up the wood with the hammer and then distressed by hand...
Here's a close up...I bet you can guess what the numbers are now....
Ahhhh, that's better! Everything is better with accessories!!
I have listed this project here:

Fixtures and Props

Creativity: The use of the imagination or original ideas especially in the production of an artistic work.
I found this wall decal at JoAnn fabrics and LOVED the coloring, the saying, how perfect!! My long term goal would be to have an area in he shop where we can create, scrapbook or work on artsy projects. I'd love to hear any thoughts on that idea...interested? What has worked for you? Drop me a line!
The next photos are things I have found at Hobby Lobby. These will be hat stands of sorts...

I also found these sturdy iron hangers at HobLob....great for displaying heavier pieces (such as bedding and quilts)
Stay tuned! More work in progress pics of the shop! I've spent this past weekend there starting set up!

Where it all began....

April 1st was the first day I was able to get into the boutique and begin set up. Until I figure out exactly what I want for window lettering, I have a temporary sign announcing my grand opening. Behind the scenes (the drop cloth drapes) the shop is being transformed into some fab vingettes!

This was the shop before a fresh coat paint....

And after a yummy french vanilla shade.....
