TRY IT THURSDAY DIY CHUNKY GOLD GLITTER PUMPKIN

These cooler mornings are giving me all the feels....for FALL!!!! I LOVE everything about it (except getting darker early - DO NOT LIKE THAT PART) the layers, sweaters, PSL er'thing, candles, leaves, apples, cider, fires....

Back in JULY I saw this display at my local @joannfabrics

I am pretty smitten with ALL the pumpkins and know I could DIY most of them! First on the list was the white with the chunky gold glitter bottom....

I purchased my lil jack at Dollar Tree and had the chunky glitter from Targets Dolla spot last Christmas (I couldn't remember why I originally bought the chunky glitter UNTIL I was thinking about senior photos - that's what I bought it for).
Got some wax paper, painted the bottom 1/3 of the pumpkin with white glue and sprinkled the chunky glitter on...

I did this one morning BEFORE work and I felt so accomplished! I let sit to dry....and will be putting it on display NEXT WEEK (well I was holding out for September...tomorrow IS September 1st....).

Next on my list is the feather pumpkin!! What has been your FAVE FALL DIY that I should try?!?!

FOODIE FRIDAY - SHARK WEEK SNACKS

This year was the first year we've done (or TRIED to do Shark Week - my kids just weren't about it!!). Of course I LOVE a theme!! So I ran with it (with only a week of planning - well, perusing Pinterest).

SHARK FLOATS

SUPER easy to make!! Blue Hawaiian Punch (about 2/3 of the glass) 7-up (about a third of the glass or you're ice cream won't fizz) and a scoop of vanilla ice cream...topped off with a gummy shark of course!!!

We borrowed Jaws from the library...CLASSIC Shark Week right?!?! The kids weren't impressed with the 1970's faux shark. I was startled at parts of it!! I don't think I've ever seen jaws in it's entirety until then. For the movie I made SHARK CHOW (popcorn, pretzel and cheddar goldfish and red, white and blue M&M's).

These were FINtastic
(pun totally intended)
Shark Spoons (I blogged the how-to yesterday), Blue jello and cool whip - can't get much simpler than that!!

Do YOU participate in Shark Week?!?! If so, I'd love to know what you do so I can implement next year!!

TRY IT THURSDAY Shark Week Fin Spoons

I saw this CUTE Idea on Pinterest (thank goodness for Pinterest, where would we be creatively without it?!?!).

So here's the HOW TO on the spoons:

I'm super sorry Kilz....I KNOW this is NOT what you intended with your adhesive (VERY LARGE like 8 x 10 paint samples). The color was PERFECT (porpoise grey) and the adhesive part was the bomb.com

I just free-hand drew a shark fin (remember to FLIP the fin to make the spoons double sided). Cut, peel back your adhesive....
....stick your spoon down and press your other adhesive fin on top!

VIOLA!!! You now have a SHARK FIN SPOON!!!
The Cotton Candy jello was DEELISH and smelled even sweeter!! These jello cups were a HIT!!

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION The Big 4-0

I saw that on insta and thought it was too funny NOT to re-post!!! And add to my blog! In fact I Told my kids we should live every day like it's my birthday!!! Flowers, Treats, fun activities, visiting with friends and fam!!

I came home from work the day before my birthday and my kids had a lil celebration set up for me...
(the next day MY ACTUAL Birthday was my sisters surprise house warming party)
I only get fragrance from VS

The MOST gorgeous bouquet I've seen!!!

My kids are pretty amazing (I KNOW every parent says that BUT it's true!! They got me the most thoughtful gifts, the funniest cards AND planned a surprise party for me (it wasn't a surprise housewarming party for my sister, it was a birthday party for me...the whole fam was in on it and my sister did the MOST AMAZING decorations - like seriously, she should be a party planner.  My mom did the three tier cake with fondant border and my parents provided the gorgeous floral back drop AKA their yard for the party. Everyone put in a lot of time, effort and dealt with my sadness about NOT having a party!!! THANK YOU doesn't even begin to cover it!!).

My sister went to my Pinterest Board for inspiration and look how AWESOME she did!!!
I felt pretty special!!! When asked how I'm coping with 40, I'm good with it!! I don't feel 40 and I have a LOT of living left to do!! I think 40 is the new 30 (and I SWEAR I'm not saying that just because I'm part of the 40 Club!!).
