TRY IT THURSDAY....Painted Bricks

SO this spring I had the idea to mulch my front yard...extend and define...

The big flea market weekend had just passed SO there were bound to be a TON of curbside treasures....apparently EVERYONE else had my same idea because there were just a few bits and pieces (there had been a ton the night before BUT my daughter was embarrassed so I figured I'd go in the morning) I DID find these edger bricks....oddly enough the EXACT amount I would need....

SO I laid them out and washed them....I could've left them the natural terracotta.....

BUT I thought they'd look better grey as they would match the siding...SO I employed some child labor....
and VIOLA!!! From THIS....

To THIS.....

And out of curiosity I googled the price of the bricks....

.99/each....NOT too bad BUT I have 18 of them...SO I saved $18.00 and GAINED architecturual interest (hey this would've made a good THRIFTY TUESDAY post)

THRIFTY TUESDAY....Fab Jewelry on the lo-lo part deux

I am a girl who LOVES her jewelry...I always have BUT now more than ever! It dresses up an outfit, pulls everything together and ALWAYS fits!! The tiny details are what MAKES the big picture!! With that being said I picked up some FAB costume jewelry last week...you can see the prices on some of it...in fact the pieces without prices were only a dolla! These pieces were originally from places like Wal-mart and Target...

This GORG statement piece is from Old Tyme Pottery and was on clearance for $5.40...my sister asked if it was made from hangers and everyone else has complimented me on it...I know this look isn't for everyone BUT I happen to like it!!

I wouldn't ordinarily wear something like this piece below BUT I KNEW it would coordinate with a pair of earrings I got at HobLob....and the earrings from THIS set ended up going PERFECT with another necklace I had at home (see pic below)

Here are the HobLob earrings

WITH the necklace....a good match no?!?!?

Below is a necklace I got at the thrift store for .99 (there were several totes FULL of these type of new necklaces and when I bought it I didn't know what I would do with it BUT I have worn it several times since then) and when I was taking the earrings and hanging them up I realized they go PERFECT with this necklace!! DOUBLE SCORE on my $1.29 necklace from above!!

Where's YOUR go-to place for fun funky jewels!?!?!

FOODIE FRIDAY....Iced Coffee

The warmer weather is the PERFECT time to enjoy iced coffee!! I think I may have done a post like this a couple years ago BUT figured a refresher for the season wouldn't hurt. Gather your ground coffee of choice and a a vessel for the water

I used about 1/4 of the bag of ground coffee for the water in the above shown gallon (you want to make sure you leave enough room for the water to rise once you add the ground coffee)

Let sit for a week and your gallon will look like the one below....gather up your supplies (a container to strain the coffee into, cheese cloth for straining the coffee AND a new container to put the coffee in)

I placed my cheesecloth over the measuring cup and secured with a rubber band

Slowly pour your coffee over the cheesecloth

Let the coffee drain through...

Remove cheesecloth (dump grounds into the trash OR your compost pile)

There will be sediment in the bottom of the vessel you strained into...I prefer rinsing this out before straining the next batch

NOW you are all set for a warm day once you chill the coffee, serve over ice and add your fave creamer (or Kahlua)

This is what your container will look like AFTER draining out your coffee...
