FLASH BACK FRIDAY Back to School Decor

PHEW y'all it's been a WHIRLWIND past few weeks - I can't even keep up with blogging!! SO be ready to be bombarded with posts!! I've decided to do a "Flashback Friday" post since I NEVER got to blog about Back to School decor...and I've moved on past that (Birthday decor and soon HALLOWEEN).
Back to School Pennant

Buffet decor (simple touches like a vase of pencils, owls, vintage thermos and lunch pail, flashcards and the beloved pink eraser)

A collection of natures beauty only seemed appropriate and educational (see the empty cloche to the right - that had a petrified frog {I found in the garage - he must've gotten in and never out} BUT I had to remove the from because the kitty in the background was trying to knock the glass off to eat the frog!!

Again a few simple touches - green apples (faux) and a chalkboard dress up this vignette

AND did y'all get a chance to pick up some of these cute lil crayons?!?!
Trophies are school themed right?!?! The only problem is everyone keeps asking if they are mine or my daughters - they are NEITHER!! I found them on the side of the road and took apart and painted!

FOODIE FRIDAY...Maple Bacon Sticky Buns

I found this recipe in an old Woman's Day magazine...it calls for pecans too BUT my kids don't like nuts SO I omitted those...

 Gather your ingredients
You will need:
* 6 strips of cooked bacon (I've recently discovered cooking bacon in the oven and LOVE the way it comes out)
*1 package of Flaky golden layer biscuits
*1/4 cup maple syrup (I used what I had on hand albeit the light version)
*1/4 cup brown sugar
*1/2 cup roughly chopped pecans if you desire

MIX the brown sugar and syrup (and pecans)

Cut in your 6 strips of bacon

MIX

Divide among muffin cups (my package was 8 biscuits so divide accordingly)

Then simply pop the biscuits on top of the bacon mixture - I left my biscuits out to rise while I did the prep work, so you may have to press them into the muffin cup like I did

Sprinkle with Cinnamon

Bake at 350 for 18-20 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown....

Once you remove from the oven immediately flip out onto a baking sheet...

And this my friends is REALITY....they didn't just flip out all beautiful....some were upside down
Serve with a side of bacon (BECAUSE you can NEVER have too much bacon) and some granny smith apples - the tart apples offsets the delish salty sweet of the sticky bun!

TRY IT TUESDAY T-Shirt Scarf

This has been ALL over Pinterest and various blogs....I'm just a lil late getting to the party!! Be warned...the "in process" pics aren't that good either!! You need an old t-shirt....Feel free to play with pattern and texture, a good pair of scissors and 5 minutes!! (Can you BELIEVE I went thrifting for an old t-shirt?!??!) I didn't think I had one laying around and then ALAS I remembered this shirt...

(It was a bandeau style top from H&M that I was going to wear as a skirt BUT since it had the built in bra it didn't work as a skirt and was too big as a shirt) SO I figured I had nothing to lose! I cut the built in bra portion off...
(Here's where I altered things...The instructions say to cut the hemmed portion - which seemed wrong and backwards, so I didn't - I cut strips into the raw edge)
(It still worked BUT I think they would've held their square shape better had I cut the hemmed end up like the directions say....who was I to think I could re-make what's been done probably a MILLION times! LOL! Although since these strips are thinner and flexible they'd be cute with beads on them..maybe a future project)

TA-DA!! The after!!

Now that I got my proverbial feet wet I was ready to tackle the .49 t-shirt I bought JUST for this project! It was grey, from the gap and now looks a lil something like this...

Have YOU tried your hand at the fringed t-shirt scarf?!?!? If so lemme know...maybe we can do a link up!
