Thrifty Tuesday....Being a Single Parent

Today's post is not your typical post that would would find here BUT it's important enough for me to address it here....I am going to bare my soul. My name is Janae and I am a single parent....I have two WONDERFUL children that I live and breathe! I can't begin to fathom how a parent could essentially abandon their children....I can't STAND the excuses to not support your children....I work part time making a lil more than minimum wage and I am supporting 2 children on our own ( I can't TOLERATE the excuse "I can't find a job, I don't have any money left to pay child support - work 3 jobs if you need to - Lord knows you aren't responsible for children's daily schedules)....

we rent a cozy home...

Where we are making memories.....

I sell stuff on ebay....

to supplement my income from my part time job....

I am thrifty and frugal....I thrift for myself, my kids and our home....If ya haven't jumped on the thrift wagon yet, you'd be SURPRISED at the amazing deals you can get - things that are BRAND NEW with the tags for 1/8 of the original price (even if you choose NOT to wear your finds, you can sell them to consignment shops {I've yet to try this, I just recently got this idea from another blogger}or on ebay)

We cook at home - A lot....
Cooking at home doesn't have to be boring...the kids loved this simple meal of ravioli and tomatoes with basil.....

We make egg rolls (from left overs) and have "Chinese Night"

It isn't always easy to have a home cooked meal with juggling work, school and extra curricular activities....so I have enlisted the help of the slow cooker....

We make memories and fun times that don't have to cost a lot....it's hard sometimes when the kids don't understand why we can't go out to eat on a certain day, or have everything their friends have....I used to LOVE keeping up with the Jones'....or even being the Jones'....BUT remember this, things aren't always what they appear to be....and at the end of the day, the memories you make - are what's important!! I don't write this post for sympathy...I write this post to EMPOWER single parents out there (not only moms, there are single dad's too) and tell you that YOU CAN DO IT!! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.....there are PLENTY of resources out there...it can be daunting to ask for help, apply for help, take help BUT don't be afraid....don't be ashamed...BE STRONG and don't ever let ANYONE DULL YOUR SPARKLE!!

Amen! More women should take a page from your book. You are a strong woman and teaching your children how to be strong! Love you!
