PATIO Furniture MAKEOVER

THIS was my deck in April...NOT awful But not FAB....I KNEW I could turn ho hum to TA-DA with a lil paint....

TA-DA!! 

MY table started out a lil pitiful....I had painted some cabinet doors on top (that's the grey lines you see) the original green of the table was showing through in some spots...SO I took cereal boxes and wedged them between the table and the supports (so no paint would drip on the deck)

Since I used latex paint (which is a B*tch to clean up) I used a plastic salad container - reduce, re-use and then re-cycle!!

Here you see the bench also received a coat of paint but the chair seats are empty (which I caught flack for from my parents....I had all the stuff to cover them I was just dragging my feet - which was SO ridiculous because it took less than an hour!!)

Laid out my waterproof "fabric" (can you guess what it is?!?!)

 cute yo size leaving about an inch or so for folding and stapling...and VIOLA!!!

Don't they look ADORBS with my grill?!?!

 Speaking of my grill....I've only used it a few times, BUT it needed a cleaning...you'll notice below I have an "S" hook (really a shower curtain hook used in my mug project) hanging from the handle...

I used that to keep the grill brush handy!!!

 Summertime and the living is easy on my lil plot of paradise....

Just planted this planter 2 weeks ago, a few more weeks and it will be lush, gorgeous and useful (I planted dill seed in the back for a tall texture and a useful plant)

I planted this baby back in the end of May....

And here it is NOW....it's filled in...I added the pot above it (which contains cilantro and basil I planted from seed - YUM to fresh pico de gallo and tomato basil salad)

Albeit my deck is small BUT it has everything  I need for entertaining or relaxing! I know the deck has seen better days BUT I'm waiting on my landlord to get that taken care of....

TRY It THURSDAY CORK BOARD

So Kmart out here was closing one of it's stores back in October of last year...which meant sales....I picked up several things...This kick ass leopard cork board being one of them!! For $2.00 - holla!! 

I had this spot in my lil laundry closet that I wanted to hang it in...to keep invites and photos and all those things that accumulate on the kitchen table....

BUT  I didn't wanna use push pins and "ruin" the cutie leopard pattern...SO I hot glued ribbon to the back of the board (I was in a hurry because I have been meaning to do this since November of last year!!) and I finally took the .25 seconds it took to hang this! So my ribbons aren't perfectly centered or measured...

BUT I'm cool with that!! My stuff is on the board!!!

What project has nagged you for 7 months when it only took less than a minute to complete?!?!?

Gas prices in Chi*town-  HOLY MOTHA! How can anyone afford to drive there?!?!

GOt my outfits (accessories included) ready for my work week - too bad my lil photog was outta town to take my pics for some of them...

It's TRUE - there is a rainbow after the rain...so remember - chin up buttercup - when you're feeling down and weathering the storm - there is a rainbow - a silver lining (speaking of - I just saw Silver Linings Playbook the other day - FAB movie -I laughed, I cried...did you like it?)

Got a lil creative with my flowers this year - being on a budget will do that to ya!! I bought the hanging basket for 7.88 (knowing I would divid it in half) and the 6 pack of annuals for .99) When I do the deck reveal nxt week I'll show ya how my planters came out!

For all the DD lovers, there are now t-shirs to show your love - and that's a fact Jack! LOL! Is is wrong that I want one?!?!

 Remember a few posts ago I blogged about freezing salsa verde (ya know to extend it's usage since it was made from fresh ingredients?!?!) if not, read it here http://objectofmayaffection.blogspot.com/2013/05/try-it-thursday-salsa-verde-freezer.html I took a few out of the freezer and added them to some shredded chicken for DELISH chicken tacos!

Are you a button pusher??!??!

I AM!! So much so that the numbers and color wore off my radio buttons....I was going to use Sally Hansen nail strips to cover the buttons but realized eventually those too would wear off...what's a girl to do?!?! Order new buttons for the radio? OR TRY SOMETHING NEW?!!?

Are you seeing anything yet?!?! I was at Michael's the other day and picked up these lil zebra blingy buttons and KNEW they'd be a perfect fit!!!

 I would've used pearls BUT the finish on them would've worn off too!!

I LOVE the look of vintage items - they are ONE of a kind, you aren't likely to see it in your neighbors home, it's a great way to preserve the past while being "green". I have 2 lil projects that took seconds to complete that I am sharing today.....

Project no.1

 A vintage rake to organize my necklaces....

You can also hang your sunglasses from it

Or wine glasses

and if wine's not your thang - NO WORRIES - you can even hang your coffee / tea mugs from it

Using a vintage liquor decanter for mouthwash....you'll be the swankiest girl in town!! I realize these ideas aren't anything new BUT it's a lil reminder....think OUTSIDE the box!!
